Global Water Dances 2025
Site Leader : KyungHee Kim
Organization : Somatic Ballet® Studies
City : Seoul
Country : South Korea
Body of water : Nodeul Island
Site Location : 445, Yangnyeong-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea
History of the Site and related water issues : “Nodeul” means the stepping stones where white herons, representing ‘righteousness’, were hanging around. Back then, a flock of white herons paddled at the edge of the Han River. This place used to be “a small boat ramp”, and people loved to go fishing during the summer and go skating during the winter way back in the 60s.
For some reasons, I don’t even remember when was the last time a flock of white herons dancing in this area.
Impact of event : This event will generate Nodeul Island as an ecological park through “the procession of Global Water Dances, 2025”. I wish we could watch the white herons dip their heads into the “clean & safe” Han River to catch prey.
